Grout can crack for several reasons—movement, inadequate installation, or moisture damage. Shifting from house settling, temperature swings, or pressure on tiles can stress grout, while improper mixing (too much water), weak adhesive, or missing expansion joints compromise its strength. Prolonged exposure to moisture and water intrusion further deteriorates porous grout. Understanding these causes helps you protect your tile surfaces and keep them looking pristine.

At Tile Trenz we use a fast - setting, polymer - modified grout that contains fine aggregate for narrow joints and formulated with high-hydrated cement Technology (HCT) to prevent issue like efflorescence and color mismatch. I also include Drop effect Technology which helps repel water, dirt, and grime, making it stain-resistant and reducing the need for the separate sealer.

Use a diluted PH- Neutral Tile cleaner. Follow label directions. For glazed porcelain, a mixture of warm water and mild detergent is fine. For unglazed/through-body porcelain, use the same PH- Neutral products; avoid oil-based cleaners that can leave residue. Raise thoroughly with clean water to remove any cleaning solution residue and dry with a microfiber mop or towel to prevent streaks.
